Greek firefighters in Athens are preparing for a possible “new fire pit” at the site of a recent gas leak.
The city has been under a state of emergency for three months, but has yet to be fully lifted.
As a result, the emergency services were forced to relocate to the newly-constructed fire pit.
“This new firepit will provide a lot of help for our emergency services,” Deputy Mayor of Athens Nikos Michalakis told AFP news agency.
The new fire is being built to a height of 50 meters (164 feet), and will house up to 200 firefighters.
The Greek government has been struggling to rebuild its public services in recent years, after a series of economic crashes.
At least 13 people have been killed in the capital since last year, as well as more than 50,000 others wounded.
